New Lexington, Ohio
Ludowici Corporation worked with JDA to renovate an abandoned 1903 factory building into a hands-on facility where architects and designers build custom mockups.
There was minimal site disturbance. A new thin 750 foot long walkway ties the Factory of Ideas to the main production plant, rather than a road and parking lot.
Broken tile was used for plinths, signage, and planters. The brick walls were repaired, a new concrete slab was poured, the factory sash steel windows and doors were reglazed, the exposed steel trusses were cleaned and painted, and all of the original clay roof tiles that had been installed in 1903 were reused.
